ITM Massage Team Members & Specialties
Edit Edit Ildiko Demeter is a 2006 graduate of the Academy of Massage and Bodywork Ltd. in Bear, Delaware and a nationally certified massage therapist under NCBTMB and a member of ABMP. She takes pride in educating herself on new techniques and over the years she participated in continuing-education classes in Delaware, Colorado, Florida, and Ohio. She is familiar with many therapeutic and relaxing modalities including: Swedish,
Deep Tissue, Craniosacral, Sports, Prenatal, Reflexology, Hot Stone,
Energy (Reiki), Healing Touch and Lomi-lomi Hawaiian therapy. She has
developed her own style blending elements of the various modalities she
has learned. Depending on her client's needs, she uses stretching and light-to-deep pressure, following her intuition to get the best results. She happily answers client questions about how massage helps the mind, body, and soul, explaining the many benefits of massage and how it improves health and everyday life. Jasmine
A graduate of the Everest Institute, Jasmine Ware still finds herself in awe of what massage can accomplish and describes herself as being invested in helping to increase the overall health and well-being of her clients. She loves to use all the tools of massage to help people feel better, including Reflexology, Energy (Reiki), Craniosacral therapy, Swedish massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and Trigger-Point therapy. She will adjust her pressure when needed and where requested. She wishes everyone knew that receiving a massage can increase blood circulation, which in turn decreases stress and its effects on the whole body. By using a combination of assisted joint movement and stretches, massage can also help improve the body's ability to move without stiffness or pain. Outside work, Jasmine enjoys reading, singing, and taking walks in nature. She also loves spending time with her children, her cat, Reily and her beagle, Joy. Some day she'd love to write a book of inspiration and motivation. She works hard to ensure her children continue to be successful in school by leading by example. Jim
Of his second career as a massage therapist, Jim Brownson says, "I want to help as many people as I can to feel better through a wide variety of massage modalities and the healing properties of human touch." He is a nationally certified massage therapist under NCBTMB and a professional member of ABMP. He is also certified with the American Heart Association in CPR and First Aid for children and adults. Jim has had special training in deep-tissue massage, chair massage, hot-rock therapy, reflexology, craniosacral therapy, prenatal massage, myofascial release, and Reiki, and loves to work on feet. He is a retired Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Karen Ann
Karen Ann Smith is a certified therapeutic myomassologist (CTM). She carefully designs each massage session for you, as each week you have different needs. Her techniques include medical massage, sport massage, myofascial release, Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, pre/post-natal massage, energy balancing, deep tissue, acupressure, shiatsu, aromatherapy, and trigger-point. She has 22 years of comprehensive experience in the field and is a recipient of 3 state service awards and 1 presidential award for her community outreach and educational efforts. She welcomes weekend warriors, business people, golfers, runners, bicyclists, construction workers, carpet cleaners and pretty much anyone else who is interested in healing to her table. Her interests outside massage include Native American herbology, meditation, and just plain quiet time to incorporate all that she has learned into her busy life.
Maite
Maite Collazo is a graduate of the National Institute of Technology in Dearborn, where she trained in various modalities, including Swedish, prenatal, reflexology, trigger points, and deep-tissue massage. Maite likes to educate her clients on the benefits of massage and how it can improve their everyday life. She uses light-to-very-deep pressure according to her clients' needs.
Malika
Malika Horgan graduated from a 2-year program in Morocco in 1993, received training in lymph drainage and sports massage in France, and also graduated from Irene's Myomassology Institute in Southfield in 2000. She has also studied Shiatsu in Japan for 8 months. Malika combines these different techniques and 15 years of experience in the field to address her clients' problem areas. She specializes in upper body and lower back, and begins each massage with myofascial release techniques that can help increases blood circulation and release stress. She employs medium-to-deep pressure and also incorporates Shiatsu techniques to help stimulate production of red blood cells. She loves stretching clients on the massage table, and ends her massages with reflexology on hands, feet, and head.
Stacy
Stacy Van Patten is a graduate of the Health Enrichment Center at Siena Heights University from which she earned a B.A.S. degree in Massage Therapy after completing 4,500 hours of training. Her favorite massage techniques are deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, cranial-sacral therapy, stretching, Reiki, oncology massage, and Swedish massage. She specializes in working on athletes, cancer patients, TMJ sufferers, and those with frequent migraines or headaches. Her touch is light to deep, depending on her client's needs and she focuses on creating balance in the body by working not just on the painful areas but on other areas that can be at the root of the problem. Stacy loves working with her hands and taking a more natural approach to healthcare. If she could teach new clients one thing it would be to come in often enough to see real progress with each session, so both client and therapist aren't starting over at the beginning with each visit.
Tina
Tina Laga attended the Michigan School of Myomassology and graduated in September of 2003. She has trained in various modalities, such as myofascial release, Swedish, prenatal, carpal-tunnel release, relaxation, and trigger-point therapy. Tina enjoys working on her client's specific problem areas and incorporates stretching and appropriate techniques in her work to create a relaxing massage.
